Why I Chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo
I chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo because this Buddhist practice helps me bring forth courage. The courage to live life to the fullest. The courage to live life without regrets. Also, because I gain the wisdom to challenge my mindset and find solutions to overcome obstacles. It gives me boundless hope that no matter what is going on in the world, I can live knowing I am doing my part, taking responsibility to make it a better place wherever I am.
With each chanting of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, my life-force grows more powerful and happiness is the result. I do my best to have compassion in daily life because I understand that life is a series of ongoing struggles and victories.
More Than Words — A Way of Life
It is not just something I say. It is a way of strengthening my mind, my heart, changing my perspective, and creating value from every experience.
This practice has proven itself to me — not once, not twice, but through years of challenges, losses, and moments where I had no idea how I was going to keep going. It is the foundation of my life. I could not imagine my life without it.
Chanting has become part of how I face challenges, pray for my own happiness and for the happiness of others, and continue growing as a person. Even when life feels difficult, this practice reminds me that I can keep moving forward with a stronger life-condition and a deeper sense of purpose.
SGI Training: Living an Undefeated Life
Practicing with the SGI, Soka Gakkai International, trained me to live with a never-give-up spirit. To live a winning life. To live fully, without regrets. Most importantly, to live an undefeated life.
Nam-myoho-renge-kyo: The Spiritual Workout
For me, chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is a daily source of encouragement. It helps me return to myself, challenge my limitations, and live with more intention, gratitude, and hope. This is why I chant. Not for perfection. I do it for ongoing inner transformation. Furthermore, I do it because I want to see actual proof of how far this Buddhist faith, practice, study, and learning with other people can take me in life. My mentor in faith, Daisaku Ikeda, taught me that when I change the inner world, the outer world changes.
If something in you is curious, that curiosity matters. You came to the right place.
